    Permission to Say No

We live by this idea that we can do it all. And I hate to be the one to break it to you, but no, you can’t. And more importantly, you shouldn’t! It is not God’s desire for you to be invincible or feel like you have to take on everything. Ephesians 5:17 says, “So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” I’ve been thinking about this a lot since my pastor included this scripture in his sermon last Sunday. We’re always praying for “God’s will,” but in so many ways, hasn’t He already told us what His will is for us? Here’s…

    Influence Me

If I get a chance to watch something I want to watch on TV, I am so content! But here’s the thing, I don’t care what I’m watching, I’m just glad it’s not Disney or Nick Jr. So I put on HGTV and that’s my go-to for a while. What happens? I am a DIY ADDICT spending money I don’t have redecorating, doing home improvements, etc. We keep inviting countless ideas and habits into our lives and we don’t even realize it’s happening! Or how about this one… I started binge watching this show on Hulu after the girls went to bed. What happens? I start embodying the main character.…

    Remedies for the Homework Saga

A lot of schools are beginning to catch up with research stating that the value of homework is minimal; so you may not be struggling with homework anymore. But if you’re crazy like me and that’s why you follow this blog, you might be creating your own homework for your kid. …ok maybe not. But I really do. If I were a sane person, I might even homeschool to really take their education by the horns. However, I think I mentioned in an earlier post some of the many reasons why I should never homeschool. Anyway, this homework I created combined with the math homework that was sent home was…

    Invisible Cross

We have these things that we carry around. They are heavy and they hold us down and hold us back and we’re not talking about them. We’re not being open about them. Some of you are depressed or anxious. Some of you are consumed by materialism, addicted to stuff and you don’t know why or how to let go of it. Some of you aren’t having sex with your husband. Some of you don’t feel like having sex with your husband and you don’t know why. Some of you are struggling with your relationship with your parents now that you’re an adult with your own children. Whatever it is, please…

    Winning

I was talking to my friend on the phone tonight, ya know, while I’m losing it on my kid about Kindergarten math homework. Anyway, we were just talking about what’s new, how was your day, etc. Within our conversation I started thinking about how I went part-time so I could be a better mom, spend more quality time with my kids, and so on. I’m doing that and it’s great! However, I just added on another work day and started tutoring in the evenings so I’m still kinda working a lot. Not nearly as much, but still. So my goal in quitting my career and going part-time was to start…

    Why the blog?

So why write this blog? Here’s the thing. I’m honest. I’m like, make you uncomfortable and watch your facial expressions honest. By writing this blog, I’m hopefully reaching a woman out there that needs to start winning. A woman that needs to know that she’s already winning in so many ways. We are surrounded by women pretending like they’re something they’re not, even with little things. The problem is, that makes other women feel like they must be doing something wrong because this chic has it all figured out. Except they don’t. Ok fine, sometimes they do, but they usually don’t. We’re constantly feeling like we’re fighting a losing battle.…
